Working With Feelings: Caring for Your Employees Through Cultural Humility and Emotional Fluency

$25.00

Today we have unprecedented access to information about social shifts and global events and most of the headlines are dominated by news of the worst sort: global pandemics, mass shootings, the stripping of basic civil liberties, economic downturns, and more. On top of that, we also deal with personal issues all the time–break-ups, trauma, loss, and job insecurity, to name a few. And yet, now more than ever, work is taking up a greater part of our lives. Not only do we need to work, we need to work with others harmoniously; however, so few of us have taken the time to truly understand the different ways in which our coworkers handle and process the emotional rollercoaster that is life.

Isidora Torres, a career Ops & Culture leader, gives us a guide to navigating challenging emotions at work with her debut book, Working With Feelings. Working With Feelings is a creatively structured handbook that teaches you to both understand how our cultural backgrounds and social standings impact our ability to recognize, process, and acknowledge emotions and how to harness this knowledge to create an emotionally fluent and safe work environment for your team. Using interviews with experts and everyday employees Torres prompts you to increase your own cultural awareness and competency while enabling you to engage in meaningful conversations and create a more productive, psychologically and emotionally safe, and human work culture.
